2 DAYS TO MERZOUGA DESERT FROM FEZ

Fez will be our starting point as we journey towards Merzouga. On the way we will pass through Ifrane. Ifrane is a small mountainous city with a European style and a cold climate all year round; hence its name “Switzerland of Morocco.” Then, we will visit the city of Azrou located in the Middle Atlas Mountains and whose population is of Amazigh origin. The economy is based entirely on wood and carpets, that reflect the Amazigh culture. Azrou is famous for the cedar forests that surround it and the monkeys that live there. It is a very attractive place for both national and international tourists. Later, we will have lunch in the town of Zaida. We will continue crossing the Atlas Mountains, the Ziz Valley and its gorges, Errachidia, Erfoud, and Merzouga. Once there, you will ride camels heading towards the dunes where you will spend the night . It will be an unforgettable experience to spend the entire night in a Berber tent, enjoying a delicious dinner and traditional music.

In the morning we will get up early to appreciate the sunrise over the dunes of Merzouga before returning to the the camp to have breakfast and a shower. Next, we head towards Rissani, the first imperial city of Morocco. Then we pass through the Ziz Valley, a wonderful area that offers pleasant panoramic views of palm groves and gorges. We pass through Errachidia and Midlet until we reach the cedar forest where we will stop to visit the famous “Gouraud” cedar. We will cross the Middle Atlas Mountains until we reach our destination. Fez is the cultural and spiritual capital of the country. It should be noted that Fez is divided into 3 parts: Fez el Bali (the old part), Fez Jdid (the new part built during the French protectate) and Mellah (the Jewish quarter). Fez has one of the most beautiful medinas as it stands out for its impressive doors, walls, palaces and monuments.
