Morocco Itinerary – 5 Days Tour

Day 1 Tangier – Chefchaouen (2 Hours Drive)

On the first day, you’ll be picked up from your accommodation, the airport, or the port in Tangier, often called “the Bride of the North.” Tangier lies where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean near Cape Spartel. Begin your exploration with a visit to the city’s highlights, including the Hercules Cave and the Cape Spartel cliffs. After free time for lunch, drive inland through Tetouan and the scenic Rif Mountains, with stops for panoramic views, before reaching the enchanting blue city of Chefchaouen. Overnight stay in a Riad in Chefchaouen.

Day 2Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes (4 Hours Drive)

Enjoy a relaxed morning wandering the picturesque blue alleys of Chefchaouen. Later, travel to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its well-preserved mosaics, pillars, and arches. Continue about 30 km to Meknes, the Ismaili capital and one of Morocco’s imperial cities, where you’ll visit Bab al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, Royal Stables and granaries, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. End the day with a drive to Fes for an overnight stay in a riad.

Day 3Fes – Ifrane – Cedars Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert (7 Hours Drive)

After breakfast, drive south through Imouzzer to Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style chalets, cool climate, and winter snow. Continue to the cedar forests near Azrou, home to Barbary macaques—take a short walk among the ancient trees and, if you like, feed the monkeys. Stop in Midelt for lunch, then cross the Tizi n’Talghamt Pass and follow the scenic Ziz Valley, pausing for panoramic views. By late afternoon, arrive at the Sahara dunes of Merzouga. Switch to camels and ride across the golden sands, stopping atop a high dune for sunset. Conclude the day at a luxury desert camp, enjoying Berber drumming under a sky full of stars. Overnight at the camp.

Day 4Merzouga Sahara – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley (5 Hours Drive)

Wake early to watch the unforgettable sunrise over the Sahara dunes. After breakfast, depart for Rissani, the historic capital of Tafilalet, with its lively souk active on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Continue to Erfoud to visit a workshop specializing in fossilized marble. Drive through the lush palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the Todra Gorges, where dramatic red cliffs rise above the Todra River, perfect for walking or rock climbing. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant, then continue to the Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades, with scenic stops at the “Monkey Fingers” rock formations and viewpoints overlooking the valley. Dinner and overnight in a Riad in Dades.

3 Days Tour from Errachidia to Merzouga Desert

Day 5 Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Skoura Palm Groves – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – High Atlas – Marrakech (5.5 Hours Drive)

After breakfast, drive to Kelaat M’Gouna to explore the Valley of Roses, famous for its annual May Rose Festival and rose-based products, including rose water, oils, and cosmetics. Continue through the palm groves of Skoura to visit the historic Kasbah Amridil. Next, reach Ouarzazate to tour the film studios before visiting the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a fortified village featured in movies such as Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and the series Game of Thrones. Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, stopping for lunch and panoramic photos along the way, before arriving in Marrakech, where the tour concludes with drop-off at your riad.

     Best 5 days hosted by guide Zaid. Zaid was our driver and guide for 5 days starting in Casablanca and ending in Rissani. He was a not only an incredible driver and guide he was a perfect host too. He was very knowledgable in local history of important sites but also the culture too. His personal experiences and his willingness to share his own stories gave us first hand insight into Moroccan life. I would recommend Zaid and consider yourself lucky if you have him!!!

     Wonderlust and Hazim are the best! We did a day tour at Chefchauoen with Wonderlust and our tour guide Hazim was excellent!!! Very knowledgeable, warm, and welcoming into his town. Walking around he didn't just know the town, he knew everyone in town! That made it more of a special experience as we felt like we were fully connecting with the culture. He even made sure we found some Sfinge. Delicious 😋. We met him as a tour guide and left as family. Gracias hermano.

     Southern Morocco It was a great experience. We covered the southern part of Morocco. Youness, our tour guide was very informative and made sure we had the best overall experience. He also made arrangements for my vegetarian friend and we had some of the best food as well. He planned out our camel ride in the Sahara desert so that we could enjoy the sunset on our way to the tents. Again, shout out to Youness, great guy and very helpful throughout the trip. Definitely going to plan a trip to the Northern parts of Morocco with these guys.

It was my husband’s second trip to Morocco with Wanderlust.  Khalid was our driver and guide. He went above and beyond expectations to keep us safe on the road. While driving he gave us fascinating insights into the culture, religion, agriculture, geography and food of his country.  He answered our questions.  He also coordinated with local guides to give us tours that were interesting to us.  For example, one of us weaves, so we met some masterful weavers working at their looms. He anticipated our needs for rest breaks, made sure restaurants were clean and served the food we desired.  We were honored that Khalid took us to his family home to enjoy meeting his family. His mother made delicious Berber pizza and a multitude of tasty treats for us.  Her tea was the BEST we had. Wanderlust booked well located and beautifully designed Riads for our stays. Many had hammams, roof top bars and excellent dining. All had large rooms or suites with decor that was fun and exotic. Over the course of 9 days, we felt that we had an excellent experience in Morocco. Winnie and Megan listened to our wishes and offered suggestions that made for a trip that was uniquely ours. We highly recommend Khalid as a driver and ambassador for his country and his Berber cultural roots.

The selection of places to visit and stay for the night was perfect. We were impressed by the diversity and beauty of the country, from the imperial cities to the desert. We also had the best time with Mustafa. He was a great and highly reliable guide as well as a careful driver. He also told us lots of interesting things about Moroccon life and culture - and at the same time gave us our own space to enjoy the country. We loved listening to Berber music and would always go back for another trip with him.
